What is a chambre d’hôte?

Anglo-Saxons speak of B&B, a synonym for “Bed and Breakfast”. In essence, you get a room in someone’s home, with breakfast included in the price. Smaller B&Bs may only have one guest room, so you’ll really feel like part of the family, where larger ones may have 4 or 5 rooms and more facilities, and the welcome just as warm .

How much does it cost to stay in a B&B?

B&B prices vary according to location, time of year and number of guests. They are generally less expensive than hotels, but some are more luxurious, and prices reflect this.

Most accommodations are based on two people sharing a room. Single rooms are rare and solo travelers need to plan ahead a little. Even then, single rooms can cost around 20-50% more than the usual price per person for a shared double room.
